On Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007 the Chattanooga Monday Nite Big Band began mourning the loss of our great Tenor Sax Player and wonderful friend Brent King who passed away that afternoon at his residence in East Ridge.
Brent was 54 years young and a well renowned jazz saxophone tenor player. Since the 1970's he had played on many celebrity tours, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, and also played in various jazz clubs in Los Angeles and New York. His style was often compared to the great tenor player Dexter Gordon. More recently Brent played locally in various jazz clubs and restaurants. Brent possessed a world class talent but was most content playing for his friends and family. Brent was known to be a very generous person giving to friends and strangers. Brent was known by all of his friends as a gracious gentleman, with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the Monday Nite Big Band.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 7454 East Brainerd Road. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Andrus officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com.
If you have any memories of Brent please share them with us and email them to webmaster@cmnbb.com.
